Long-Term Hydrogen Production from a Methanol–Water Solution Catalyzed by an Iridium Complex

چکیده

Long-term hydrogen production from a methanol–water solution was achieved by developing new reaction system employing homogeneous iridium catalyst bearing bipyridonate-type functional ligand. By optimizing the methanol:water ratio of solution, efficiency greatly improved in relation to that reported our previous studies. Additionally, effect scale investigated. It found small-scale led longer lifetime catalyst, accomplishing long-term continuous at constant rate for over 500 h. Furthermore, procedures reuse were studied. After 400 h, all volatiles removed under vacuum. This simple procedure is highly effective reactivation and catalyst. Finally, (13.7 L, 562 mmol) methanol (12.3 mL, 303 water (5.46 mmol), 800 achieved.

Mechanistic studies of hydrogen evolution in aqueous solution catalyzed by a tertpyridine-amine cobalt complex.

The ability of cobalt-based transition metal complexes to catalyze electrochemical proton reduction to produce molecular hydrogen has resulted in a large number of mechanistic studies involving various cobalt complexes. While the basic mechanism of proton reduction promoted by cobalt species is well-understood, the reactivity of certain reaction intermediates, such as Co(I) and Co(III)-H, is st...

Hydrogen-Borrowing and Interrupted-Hydrogen-Borrowing Reactions of Ketones and Methanol Catalyzed by Iridium**

Reported herein is the use of catalytic [{Ir(cod)Cl}2 ] to facilitate hydrogen-borrowing reactions of ketone enolates with methanol at 65 °C. An oxygen atmosphere accelerates the process, and when combined with the use of a bulky monodentate phosphine ligand, interrupts the catalytic cycle by preventing enone reduction. Subsequent addition of pro-nucleophiles to the reaction mixture allowed a o...

Iridium-Catalyzed 1,3-Hydrogen Shift/Chlorination of Allylic Alcohols**

Chlorinated compounds are among the most common and versatile building blocks in organic synthesis. Among these, achlorocarbonyl derivatives are of synthetic value owing to the variety of functional groups that can be introduced both at the chlorinated a-carbon atom and at the carbonyl functionality. For instance, they readily undergo substitution/addition reactions and cross-coupling reactions...

Alkylation of active methylene compounds with alcohols catalyzed by an iridium complex.

Base-free catalytic alpha-alkylation of active methylene compounds with primary alcohols was successfully achieved using an [IrCl(cod)](2) complex in the presence of PPh(3) to afford the corresponding saturated alpha-alkylated products in good yields.
